MEET THE AUTHOR: JIM TRUCK
Though born on the high prairie near Massacre Canyon, the site of the last battle between the Sioux and Pawnee, I grew up in Southern California and later lived in several southern states. I have an undergraduate degree in business and a master’s in finance. Along the way, I’ve been a military officer, combat aviator, equestrian trainer, breeder and judge, bank president, registered investment advisor, business owner, artist, and author.

The first book that captured my imagination was a 1914 account of the sinking of the Titanic. I was just ten years old. It stirred in me a passion for learning how historical events echo through our lives and mold our perception of the world. I write adult historical fiction around actual events, often in an epic-style, first-person narrative, as one would hear a story being told. I’ve experienced the horror of war, witnessed the fall of great regimes, and seen once-important, world-shifting eras fade into history’s dustbin. I believe that the most compelling stories in this genre are those told by individuals who have experienced the highs and lows of their own real-life adventures.
My characters are often flawed outsiders navigating the misadventures and calamities of their often dangerous and complicated journeys through life. They experience pain, love, loss, redemption, empathy, and regret for missed opportunities— as do we all. As an author, I aim to draw my readers into my characters’ lives, making them feel as if they have walked in their shoes as they journey through my tale.
I reside with my family along a blue-water bay of one of the Great Lakes.
